What is My Own Two Hands?
My Own Two Hands is an organization founded in 2008 by Aaron Dolores and Brady Thomas to rally friends and family around the need to volunteer. We coordinate and publicize at least one volunteer event per month with existing, non-political and non-religious, organizations in a number of cities across the United States. The aim is two-fold; to help serve the community by committing to regular service and to build strong relationships in the community by involving as many like-minded friends, family and associates as possible.
What cities have My Own Two Hands Chapters?
Currently, there are active chapters in the San Francisco-Bay Area, New York and Chicago. Each chapter organizes at least one volunteer event per month, usually on the weekends. The chapter founders understand that best way to get people involved is to keep it informal, easy and fun, so all the events are open to anyone who wants to get involved and their friends.
How can I get involved?
If you live in a city with a current My Own Two Hands chapter, you can get involved by simply showing up for the next volunteer event. To find out more information about upcoming events check back to this website regularly or simply email any of the coordinators (information can be found on the Contacts page).
Do I have to show up to every event?
Absolutely not. Come when you can and if you can’t make it don’t worry…try to make it next month!
Can I bring a friend?
Please do! The idea is to involve as many people as possible and make everyone feel welcome. We want you to bring your friends and family and invite them to bring their friends and family. We strongly believe the best way to meet good people is through the good people that you already know! Our volunteer numbers have grown so quickly for precisely that reason.
